The environment

The physical environment in The Pupil Tree pre-school is a developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports childrens' initiatives to explore, investigate, observe and experiment within safe boundaries. The space is designed to offer children many types and levels of challenge and stimulation, sending important signals to children about "what there is to do and how to do it".

The environment engages and entices childrens' sense of inquiry, stimulates their imaginations, invites exploration, communicates a sense of belonging and supports their confidence in developing competencies over time.

The classrooms serve a valuable purpose and are set-up to expose children to opportunities to explore, question and develop theories about how things work. To create well-organized and fun spaces which help the children to learn and motivate them to interact positively with each other, the classroom:

  • Contains areas in which children can select and plan their activities
  • Contains areas for quiet and active social interactions
  • Encourages independence by clearly labeling areas with words and pictures
  • Encourages meaningful experiences through a varied range of equipment and materials
  • Encourages child related displays through designated spaces at the childrens eye-level
  • Contains furniture for routine care, play and learning that is sturdy, comfortable and appropriate to the size of the children in the room. For instance, the shelves are of student height and the tables and chairs are low and comfortable

The equipment, the furniture, the learning aids and the toys are carefully selected and internationally sourced to ensure that they satisfy our quality and safety norms.

Creative room arrangement promotes a child's positive self-image and encourages a range of age appropriate activities. Well-defined interest centers help support the childrens' development. Each centre is equipped with age appropriate and child safe materials like paint brushes, crayons, clay, blocks and others for creative activities.

The different centers at The Pupil Tree pre-schools are:
Language and literacy center
Math and manipulative center
Science center
Writing/ art center
Blocks and other games center
Dramatics and reading center

Other than these centers we have a safe, secure and attractive outdoor play area which is laid out in the large empty spaces. Play helps children to lengthen attention span and learn socialization and team skills. Children also need daily opportunities to exercise muscles, run in open spaces and develop gross motor skills.

The spaces are equipped with age appropriate, sturdy and safe equipment to promote gross motor development. The outdoor play equipments include sand pits, rope ladders, slides, hollow tunnel, jungle gym, tricycles, variety of balls, etc.
